As Blackpool continues to grow as a business resort and tourist destination, a new five-storey hotel with 266 bedrooms has been proposed for development on the land between Alfred Street, Adelaide Street and Leopold Grove. This area is positioned directly opposite the Blackpool Conference and Exhibition Centre, making it ideal for conference delegates and large group bookings.
Blackpool Council has also agreed an updated application by Ashall Projects to convert the Grade II-listed former post office into a hotel. Positioned between Abingdon Street and Edward Street in the heart of Blackpool, the new plans are for a 150-room hotel with a rooftop terrace and a three-storey rear extension.
Carbon Neutral Transport by 2025
Thanks to ongoing investments into electric vehicle technologies, Blackpool Transport, the main local transport provider for the town, will be carbon neutral by 2025. As well as the arrival of an electric bus fleet, the organisation is already environmentally conscious with recycling objectives in place, plus water coolers to discourage the use of single-use plastic bottles and water re-purpose schemes in place whereby wastewater is used for vehicle washes. Civil Service Hub on track to open in 2025
A new £100million, seven-story home for the UK Government in the centre of Blackpool is set to open next year. The new development will welcome over 3000 civil servants as a part of a £350million redevelopment plan for the centre of Blackpool town centre.

Blackpool 'Multiversity'
With courses developed in collaboration with Lancaster University, the brand new 'multiversity' campus will replace the ageing Blackpool and Fylde College with state of the art facilities. Conveniently located in the town centre, the campus will offer more than 70 courses including automation, mobility and artificial intelligence. It will expand the college's Higher Education offer and bring new technical and professional learning opportunities to Blackpool.
